Overall Comments
The exterior is in poor condition. The paintwork and body panels display swirl marks, scratches, scuffing, multiple rock chips, and rust stains emerging from those chips. There are door dings and cosmetic damages, particularly affecting the passenger rear door, bed area, and driver rear bumper. The passenger front bumper trim cover is missing, and the driver front chrome tow hook shows signs of rust. Driver door has heavy rust along the bottom, rear passenger door does as well. Both side step bars also exhibit surface rust and rust staining. There is a large dent on the passenger-side rear corner of the cab where it meets the truck bed, with corresponding damage visible on the adjacent section of the bed. A crack is present in the lower portion of the windshield that extends all the way through, though it does not obstruct the driver’s view. Rust is visible along both rocker panels, especially on the passenger rear and driver rear sides. The undercarriage shows a slightly higher-than-expected level of rust and corrosion for the vehicle's year and mileage. Please see pictures/video for more information.
Most tested comfort and convenience features functioned as intended. However, both rear license plate lights are inoperative, likely due to burnt-out bulbs.
Mechanically, there are no warning lights illuminated on the dash. No diagnostic trouble codes were found in the onboard computer, and no signs of fluid leaks or rodent damage were noted. The engine oil level was low and should be topped up or changed soon. Coolant level in the reservoir was also low and too hot to test at the time of inspection, indicating it should be topped up promptly. No transmission dipstick was available for fluid inspection. Brake fluid appears to be in good condition and at the correct level. The frame, front subframe, sway bars, suspension components, lower control arms, stabilizer bar, steering knuckles, rear subframe, leaf springs, differential, and brake calipers all exhibit varying degrees of rust. While rust does not appear structural, this can not be guaranteed. The tires have an estimated tread depth remaining of approximately 75–80%, though there is noticeable rubbing when executing maximum steering angles. Front brake pad life could not be precisely confirmed due to caliper design but is estimated between 45–50%, while rear brake pads appear to have 35–50% remaining.
During the test drive, the truck exhibited good engine response and stable handling. The vehicle starts well, although a faint misfire is briefly observed during the initial seconds of idling. This did not trigger any diagnostic trouble codes, and no misfire data was active in the onboard diagnostics. There were no abnormalities in power delivery or steering functionality aside. Steering and driving performance were generally acceptable, but braking performance was compromised: medium to hard braking, especially at higher speeds, resulted in noticeable pedal pulsation and mild brake fade. Braking deficiencies were consistently reproducible under moderate to firm braking applications, reinforcing the need for immediate attention to the braking system.
In summary, this 2013 Ford F-150 shows moderate wear consistent with age and use, both cosmetically and mechanically. The primary issues concern the braking system, fluid levels, and rust. While the truck remains functional and roadworthy, addressing the highlighted issues will be essential to ensure safe and reliable use.
iNeedaPPi Condition Score: 59/100
Immediate Recommendations
- Complete full structural/serious rust check on hoist to determine full extent and severity
- Address faint initial misfire (if it worsens or persists): $100–$300 (diagnostic and potential spark plug/coil replacement)
- Replace brake rotors due to brake pulsation and fade: $300–$600
- Top up or replace engine oil (currently low): $130–$180
- Top up coolant (currently low and too hot to check): $60–$120
- Replace both license plate light bulbs: $20–$40
- Replace cracked windshield: $500–$900
Near Future Recommendations
- Monitor rocker panel and undercarriage rust (non-structural): $200–$400 (rust treatment)
Optional Recommendations
- Detail interior to remove pet hair and stains: $150–$250
- Clean or repair rust on door weatherstripping and sills: $100–$200
- Replace missing bumper trim cover (PF): $50–$100
- Polish or repaint affected exterior panels (swirl marks, chips, dings): $500–$1,200
- Clean or refinish step bars and chrome tow hook: $100–$200
